Artist Information : Alison Calver

Category : Painting/Drawing
Preferred age groups : All age groups
Maximum group size : 30
Workshop Proposals : Example 1: “Living lines". Simple exercise which encourages children to see the world less in terms of 3d objects distributed in a 3d space, and more as a flat pattern on a 2d surface.
Example 2: “3d Old Master” activity to tie in with maths (and history). Working in small teams, take a painting and, using simple geometry, recreate the scene to scale.
Example 3: “Black, white or grey” tonal work encourages children to see the world in very simple blocks of lightness or darkness and moves their attention away from detail.
Example 4: “In The Picture” (supported drawing) - ties in with history and IT, children insert their own digital portrait into an image from the period being studied. We explore painting, collage and printing techniques on printed copies.
